Areas of Expertise
Op. Dr. Halil İbrahim Öçalan provides treatment across a wide range in the field of orthopedics and traumatology.
🦴 Arthroscopic Surgery
Arthroscopic surgery is one of the minimally invasive (closed) surgical methods used in the diagnosis and treatment of joint diseases. A camera (arthroscope) is inserted into the joint through small incisions, allowing detailed visualization of joint structures.
Knee Arthroscopy
A modern surgical method used in the diagnosis and treatment of many knee conditions. Cartilage damage, ligament injuries, and meniscus problems can be treated with arthroscopic methods.
- Meniscus tears
- Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries
- Knee cartilage damage
- Intra-articular loose bodies
Shoulder Arthroscopy
Allows closed-method treatment of shoulder injuries and diseases. Problems in the shoulder joint can be treated with smaller incisions.
- Shoulder dislocations and recurrent dislocation
- Rotator cuff tears
- Shoulder impingement syndrome
- Shoulder cartilage damage
Ankle Arthroscopy
A modern surgical method for diagnosis and treatment of ankle conditions. Provides effective results especially in sports injuries.
- Ankle ligament injuries
- Cartilage damage
- Ankle impingement syndrome
- Intra-articular loose bodies
Advantages of Arthroscopy
- Smaller surgical incisions
- Less pain
- Faster recovery process
- Shorter hospital stay
- Faster return to daily life and sports
🦾 Prosthetic Surgery (Hip and Knee)
Hip and knee prosthetic surgery is an effective treatment for patients suffering from severe joint damage, osteoarthritis, and various orthopedic conditions causing pain and limited movement.
Hip Prosthesis
- Hip osteoarthritis
- Hip fractures
- Rheumatic joint diseases
- Congenital disorders in the hip joint
Knee Prosthesis
- Advanced knee osteoarthritis
- Shape deformities in the knee joint
- Rheumatoid arthritis and other rheumatic diseases
- Joint damage after trauma
- Severe knee pain and limited movement
Advantages of Prosthetic Surgery
- Reduction of chronic joint pain
- Increased joint mobility
- Ease in daily living activities
- Improved walking and mobility
- Significant improvement in quality of life
🏃 Sports Medicine
Sports medicine deals with diagnosis and treatment of muscle, ligament, tendon, and joint injuries occurring during sports or daily physical activities.
Sports Injuries
- Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries
- Meniscus tears
- Shoulder dislocations and ligament injuries
- Rotator cuff tears
- Ankle ligament injuries
- Muscle and tendon tears
- Sports-related fractures and dislocations
Treatment Methods
- Arthroscopic (closed) surgical methods
- Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction
- Meniscus repair or meniscectomy
- Shoulder stabilization surgeries
- Tendon and ligament repairs
- Sports rehabilitation programs
Specialized treatment protocols are applied for safe return of athletes to sports.
🩹 Trauma Surgery
Trauma surgery encompasses surgical and non-surgical treatment of fractures, dislocations, ligament injuries, and soft tissue damage resulting from falls, accidents, or sports injuries.
Treated Conditions
- Bone fractures
- Joint dislocations
- Sports injuries
- Ligament and tendon injuries
- Muscle and soft tissue damage
- Orthopedic injuries after traffic accidents
Treatment Methods
- Fraction fixation (plate, screw or rod applications)
- Closed or open fracture surgeries
- Arthroscopic surgical methods
- Ligament and tendon repairs
- Rehabilitation and physical therapy processes
Rapid intervention and correct treatment planning are of vital importance in trauma surgery.
🖐 Hand Surgery and Microsurgery
Hand surgery and microsurgery is an advanced surgical field dealing with diagnosis and treatment of diseases, injuries, and congenital conditions affecting the hand, wrist, and forearm.
Treated Conditions
- Hand and wrist fractures
- Tendon lacerations and injuries
- Nerve injuries
- Finger amputations and limb avulsions
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Trigger finger
- Hand cysts and tumors
Microsurgery Methods
- Reattachment of severed fingers or limbs
- Nerve repairs
- Vessel repairs
- Treatment of complex hand injuries
- Tissue graft and reconstructive surgery
Microsurgical techniques performed under a microscope make it possible to repair very small structures.
📏 Limb Lengthening Surgery
Limb lengthening surgery is based on the principle of controlled bone elongation. It can be applied in treatment of congenital or acquired leg shortness, leg length discrepancies, and some deformities.
Treated Conditions
- Leg length discrepancy (difference 2 cm and above)
- Congenital bone shortness
- Bone shortness after trauma
- Growth disorders after bone infections
- Hormonal disorders (acromegaly etc.)
Surgical Methods
- Limb lengthening with internal devices
- Limb lengthening with external devices
- Complex deformity corrections
- Reconstructive surgery
This treatment method significantly improves patients' quality of life and psychological confidence.
📐 Deformity Surgery
Deformity surgery is a special orthopedic field aimed at correcting congenital or acquired bone shape abnormalities, specializing in treatment of leg shortness, curvatures, and joint deformities.
Treated Deformities
- Ovalık (genu varum) - Outward angulation of knees
- Kavalık (genu valgum) - Inward inclination of knees
- Congenital hip dislocation
- Ankle deformities (pes planus, cavus)
- Shape disorders after bone infections
Treatment Approaches
- Osteotomy (bone cutting and realignment)
- Deformity correction with Ilizarov technique
- Complex reconstructive surgery
- Joint replacement
In deformity surgery, long-term planning and patient follow-up are important. Patients achieve lasting results after treatment processes lasting several months.
🩺 Diabetic Foot Surgery
Diabetic foot surgery is a special orthopedic field dealing with diagnosis and treatment of foot problems in diabetic patients caused by nerve damage (neuropathy) and circulatory disorders.

- Malignant bone tumors (osteosarcoma, chondrosarcoma)
- Myeloma
- Metastatic bone lesions
Treatment Approaches
- Limb salvage surgery
- Prosthesis replacement
